Gort Cancer Support
Gort Cancer Support was established in June 2007 to provide support and practical assistance to people affected by a cancer diagnosis. We adopt a holistic approach towards our clients and their family members by providing a range of activities and social events which will enhance our clients wellbeing and coping skills. Our cancer support centre is managed and operated by trained volunteers with the assistance of administrative staff and professional therapists. We offer a home from home environment where one will feel relaxed and welcome.
Our Registered Charity Number (RCN) is 20075927.

The forecast is looking bright, warm & sunny over the next few days. But while you're enjoying the sunshine, don’t forget one very important thing: protect your skin.
✅ Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
🧢 Wear a hat & sunglasses
👕 Cover up with light, breathable clothing
⏰ Seek shade during peak hours (11am–3pm)
💧 Stay hydrated!
Sun safety isn’t just for beach days, even a short walk or time in the garden can expose your skin to harmful UV rays. Taking a few simple steps can help prevent sunburn, premature aging & reduce your risk of skin cancer.

Our fortnightly drop-in mindfulness sessions continue here at the studio in Hollyblue House next Monday 25th 11.30am - 12.30pm. As these sessions come to a close at the end of June, we now have just a few drop-in dates remaining.
These gentle, welcoming sessions are designed to support anyone living with or beyond cancer, as well as their loved ones. Mindfulness offers powerful tools to reduce stress, improve emotional wellbeing & build resilience during challenging times.
Led by experienced teacher Hilary Smyth, a member of the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland (MTAI), these sessions provide a safe space to pause, breathe & reconnect.
No booking is required & sessions are FREE. Open to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis. ‘Come as you are, stay as long as you like.’
